Family Mediation in The Villages, Florida

The Villages sits in Sumter County, close to Jessica's own office base, so households here can usually meet her in person without a long trip. If that doesn't suit a given week, a Zoom session works just as well.

Jessica is a Florida Supreme Court certified family mediator (#44460F) and a licensed clinical social worker. She serves as a neutral third party. She won't take sides, and she doesn't offer legal advice to anyone at the table.

A calmer way to work out family decisions

Mediation lets you settle family matters without arguing them in open court. Sessions are confidential and paced for the people in the room, so each person can speak, listen and weigh options before any terms are written up.

What Jessica can help with

  • Divorce and separation mediation: dividing a home and shared property, support questions, and the schedule for any children

  • Parenting coordination: a neutral helper for parents who already have a parenting plan but keep getting stuck on the details

  • Collaborative divorce: serving as the neutral facilitator on a team where each spouse keeps their own collaboratively trained attorney

  4. Review a written summary of anything you settle, which you may share with your own attorney before signing electronically.

Near home in The Villages

Between golf cart paths, town squares and recreation centers, many residents prefer to keep appointments local. Jessica's Sumter County location makes that possible, and families with relatives spread across Lake or Marion can join remotely if needed. Sumter County is part of Florida's Fifth Judicial Circuit; Jessica is independent of the courts, and any court details here are general only.

Common questions in The Villages

Can we meet with Jessica in person near The Villages?
Yes. In-person sessions are available in Sumter County, and Zoom is an option whenever that is easier.

Do we both have to be in the same room?
Not necessarily. Jessica can hold sessions where each person joins by video from a separate location, or move between private conversations when that feels more comfortable.

Is what we say in mediation kept private?
Florida law generally treats mediation communications as confidential, with some exceptions. Jessica reviews how confidentiality works at the start of the first session.

Can our adult children or other relatives sit in?
That depends on what both participants agree to. Jessica can talk through who might attend during the free call.

Will Jessica tell us what is fair?
No. As a neutral, she helps you both look at options and consequences, but the decisions remain yours. Each of you may consult your own attorney at any point.
