Family Mediation & Parenting Coordination in Orange County
Orange County family cases are heard in Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit at the Orange County Courthouse, 425 N. Orange Avenue, Orlando. Jessica Oliver, LCSW, a Central Florida-based Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator (#44460F) and a qualified Florida parenting coordinator, helps Orange County couples and co-parents settle divorce, time-sharing and co-parenting disputes by Zoom.
Orange County family court: what to know
The Ninth Circuit covers Orange and Osceola Counties. Its Dispute Resolution Services office (Suite 130, 407-836-2004) schedules court family mediation. In a contested case, either party can submit Form 50 after an answer is filed, then call to schedule once 48 business hours have passed. Court mediation fees depend on the parties' combined income:
Under $50,000: $60 per party for a session of up to 3 hours
$50,000 to $100,000: $120 per party for a session of up to 3 hours
Over $100,000: the parties can choose a private mediator, or the court can provide a rotation list. If they can't agree, the court appoints one by rotation.
Private mediation adds choice: you pick the mediator, set the pace, and take as many sessions as the case needs.
Divorce and family mediation
Mediation is confidential under Florida's Mediation Confidentiality and Privilege Act (Fla. Stat. §44.401–44.405), apart from narrow statutory exceptions. Jessica mediates:
Divorce, including property, debts and support
Parenting plans and time-sharing
Modifications to existing plans or support
Paternity
Zoom sessions can put each person in a separate breakout room, which helps when emotions run high.
Parenting coordination in Orange County
Mediation helps parents create a plan. Parenting coordination helps them live with it. The Ninth Circuit describes parenting coordination as a child-focused process in which trained professionals help high-conflict parents implement their parenting plan and resolve disputes in a timely way.
Orange County families have two routes:
The court's Orange County Parenting Coordination Program, which offers reduced rates ($500 retainer per party and $80 per hour, per the circuit). Coordinators are assigned by rotation, so parents and attorneys don't choose who they get.
A private parenting coordinator that both parents agree on, appointed by the court under Fla. Stat. §61.125. This lets the family choose someone whose background fits their conflict.
Jessica's clinical work in psychiatric units, VA hospitals and domestic violence shelters fits families where emotion drives the conflict.
