Frequently asked questions.

What is mediation?

Mediation is a voluntary, confidential process where a neutral third party (that’s me!) helps people in conflict communicate more effectively and work toward mutual agreements. You stay in control of the outcome; no judge, no courtroom.

Do I need a lawyer to use your services?

No. Many of my clients are pro se, meaning they are self-represented. You don’t need an attorney to begin mediation or receive support. If you do have an attorney, I’m happy to work alongside them.

What issues can be resolved through mediation?

Mediation can address a wide range of family issues, including:

  • Divorce or separation

  • Parenting plans and custody agreements

  • Timesharing schedules

  • Communication breakdowns

  • Co-parenting challenges

  • Post-divorce modifications

What is the difference between mediation and collaborative divorce?

In mediation, I serve as a neutral facilitator working directly with the parties.

In collaborative divorce, each spouse is represented by a collaboratively trained attorney, and I serve as the neutral facilitator on the professional team, alongside a financial neutral.

Both are out-of-court options designed to reduce conflict, save time, and prioritize your family’s well-being.

What if we don’t agree on anything?

That’s okay. You don’t have to be on the same page to start.

My role is to help you both communicate more clearly, identify shared goals, and explore solutions that may not have been considered yet.

Are your services confidential?

Yes. Mediation is a confidential process. What is shared in sessions stays private and will not be disclosed in court (with a few legal exceptions for safety or abuse reporting).

What is parenting coordination?

Parenting coordination is a child-focused process for high-conflict parents who need help following their parenting plan, improving communication, and resolving day-to-day disputes. It may be court-ordered or voluntary.

Do you write legal documents?

As a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator, I can draft mediation agreements or memoranda of understanding, but I do not provide legal advice. I always recommend having your agreements reviewed by an attorney before filing.

What’s the cost?

Pricing varies based on the service. Sliding scale spots when available.

Where do you offer services?

All services are offered virtually by Zoom across the state of Florida. You can join from wherever feels safe and convenient for you. If in-person is preferred locally to Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, or Sumter County, a mutually agreed-upon location can be obtained.
